Interfraternity Council Recruitment
During recruitment week, Cornell students can visit fraternity houses during "open house events", during which students have the opportunity to meet brothers in each fraternity and get a feel for which fraternities they like and how they may fit with their values and interests. After smokers, fraternities contact potential new members in their residence halls in a process called “contacts.” During this period fraternities will query the student’s interest level in the fraternity, discuss the fraternity’s interest level in them, and outline the fraternity’s schedule of recruitment events going forward. A fraternity that wishes to extend an offer of membership, or a ‘bid” to a student does so at final contacts, which marks the end of the formal recruitment period. Students then officially sign their bid online.
Please note there is a 2.25 minimum cumulative GPA required to be eligible for IFC recruitment.
