Community Center Programs (CCP) offer the unique benefit to the North Campus community of hosting programs most evenings in Appel and RPCC. We design/conceptualize events that offer opportunities for engagement with CCP staff and other students while providing a forum for participants to explore a variety of issues and ideas that may be new to them.
Programs are planned with an awareness of the experience of students throughout their first year at Cornell, finding creative ways for people to interact with issues/concepts relating to health and well-being, social identity, and the academic experience. In addition, CCP’s signature annual events, put on in collaboration with student organizations, draw participants from across Cornell and the larger Ithaca community. They include the Halloween Haunted House, the International Heritage Festival and CornellCon.
Through the CCP employment model, student staff develop a myriad of useful abilities including effective communication strategies, independent thinking and decision-making, and leadership skills.
